TODAY IS A NEW DAY

encore | October 14, 2008 18:08

Today is a new day!

God has given me this day to use as I will.

I do not wish to waste it.

I choose to use it to profit God’s kingdom.

What I do today is important,

because I’m trading a day of my life for it.

When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever,

leaving behind only what I have chosen to trade.

I want it to be gain, not loss; good, not evil;

success, not failure;

so that I can say that I have traded well.

eeeeefffff

Dear Jesus,

Help me to choose well those things

that show your love to all

who see my actions and hear my words.

Teach me to choose well those thingsthat please you most.

Amen

eeeeefffff

“I can do all things through Christ,

who strengthens me.”

Fun Stuff

My Mother is a queen among mothers!  When I was a kid, she would make the best homemade root beer.  When you popped the top on mom’s root beer, it was really a sight to see.  The delight of watching it Bubblin’Over into the ready glass was only a prelude to actually tasting it.   But long before that day, it was so much fun to help her prepare it because we knew that even if we did have to wait half the summer for it to be ready, it was really gonna be worth the wait!  We were Bubblin’Over! with anticipation!

And that’s how it is with Jesus.  Now we see through a glass darkly.  But then, we will see him face to face. For now, we have the Word of God in scriptures to keep us Bubblin’Over! with anticipation.  And, there is so much to be joyful about that we will still be Bubblin’Over! when Jesus returns!

Ø Since I am set free from the law of sin and death… (Romans 8:2)

§  I am Bubblin’Over with life and peace! (Romans 8:5)

Ø Since I am a branch of JESUS, the true Vine… (John 15:1)

§  I am Bubblin’Over with fruitfulness! (Philippians 1:11)

Ø Since I have been made complete in Christ… (Colossians 2:10)

§  I am Bubblin’Over with everything I need for life and Godliness! (II Peter 1:3)

Ø Since I have been adopted as a child of God… (John 1:12)

§  I am Bubblin’Over with the love of the Father! (I John 3:1)

Ø Since I have the mind of Christ… (I Corinthians 2:16)

§  I am Bubblin’Over with wisdom from above! (I Corinthians 2:6)

Ø Since Jesus is the Word of God… (John 1: 14)

§  I am Bubblin’Over with Good News! (Mark 16:15)

You Might Be A Drama Queen If...

Borrowing on Jeff Foxworthy's redneck jokes, I offer you this intellectual diagnostic tool:

(ok--it's all in jest---or is it?  Hmm...)

1 If breaking a nail sends you runningfor the First Aid Kit,You might be a Drama Queen!

2 If the phone rings in the middle of the night and you automatically assume someone in your family has died,You might be a Drama Queen!

3 If three of your teachers retired after having you in class and you claim personal responsibility,You might be a Drama Queen!

4  If finding out that your favorite shade of lipstick has been discontinued brings you to near hysteria,You might be a Drama Queen!

5. If you’ve ever replaced yourentire wardrobe in a day,You might be a Drama Queen!

6. If you make feathers & rhinestones look good,You might be a Drama Queen!

But the True Drama Queen Seeks her peace in God!

Being Called

Being Called

~~~
Dear Lord You Have Given
Your Life For Me;
What More Can I Give Then,
But My Life to Thee?
~~~

Your Hands Were Taken

And Wounded for Me;

My Hands I Give Now

In Service to Thee.

~~~
Your Feet, Weary and Broken,
Traveled That Hill;
The Feet of Thy Servant
Shall Walk by Thee Still.
~~~

Though My Steps ere May Take Me

 Away from My Home,

Where Ever You Lead Me

I Shall Not Go Alone.

~~~
Your Hand-Maiden Waits
And Hearkens To Hear
The Voice of Her Master
As She Humbly Draws Near.
~~~

I Hear You Calling

And Beckoning Me;

I Come With a Promise

To Serve Only Thee.

~~~
I Bow at Thy Feet, Lord,
Responding to Thee
To Worship and Praise You
For the Wonders I See.
~~~

I Will Tell of Your Greatness

And Tell of Your Love;

I Will Tell of the Glory

Of My Savior Above.

~~~
For How Shall They Hear, Lord,
Unless They Are Told
Of the Riches and Blessings
Which Thou Wilt Unfold?
~~~

And So, Lord, I Give You

My Heart and My Hands,

To Love You and Serve You

Throughout All the Lands.

The Loom

It’s Hard To Be The Loom And Watch

While The Craftsman’s Shuttle Flies.

It’s Hard To Be The Canvas

While The Paint My Lord Applies.

~~~
But Greater Still The Task Would Be
To Paint Myself As I Should Be
Or To Weave The Threads And But Surmise
The Plans That Hide In The Master’s Eyes
~~~

So, As A Seed That Rests In Peace

And Blooms Before The Sower’s Feet

I’ll Burst Forth A Living Masterpiece

For He Has Breathed His Life In Me.

Back Story

encore | July 15, 2008 16:20

Alysa Dixon

Beginnings. Founded in 1987, ‘FaithWorks! Creative Family Services’ began as an outlet for Alysa’s own creative energy. What began as ‘Sozo the Clown’ entertainment and gospel programs for children, expanded to include ‘Silly-grams, Etc!’ singing telegrams and family-oriented entertainment as well as public speaking and freelance writing.

Education. Alysa holds degrees in Psychology and Education. While at Western State College of Colorado, she also studied Vocal Music and Theatre Arts. She is beginning her master’s degree this year.

Teaching. Alysa has taught every age level from pre-school through adult in a variety of settings ranging from Sunday School to the public school classroom, even the county jail! Her favorite position by far was as the Music Specialist for over 450 kids in grades K-8.

Theatre. Acting has always been a passion since the first part she landed, Goldilocks, in the Second Grade. She has participated in high school drama club, community theater, and a wide range of ministry opportunities. She has directed theater for college, church and community. Alysa’s dramatic presentations have been described as compelling, insightful, thought-provoking, and entertaining.

Public Speaking. In high school, Alysa received awards in speech team and international relations organizations. She has spoken for churches, women’s retreats and ladies’ ministries including Ladies Aglow. She also had the privilege of speaking at her college baccalaureate.

Today. ‘Encore! Christian Life & Drama.’ By God’s sovereign design, Alysa is now focusing all her experiences into her most audacious vision. “Entertainment has been a stepping stone, but the real goal all along was to move into full-time ministry.” To reflect her bolder public presence for the gospel message, the name and logo are changing. Look for ‘Encore! Life & Drama’ to make an impact on your community.

The Prayer Inside

The Prayer Inside

 I do not pray in the temple

As I am told that Solomon did.

For because of Jesus’ sacrifice,

In Christ my life is hid.

??

 I know Jesus is my Savior;

He took away my sin.

I opened up the door of my heart,

And asked Him to come in.

 ??

Boldly to His room I come

So many times each day

And there for every praise and need

Within my heart I pray.

Oh, Drama!

DRAMA QUEEN

Portraying such characters as Auntie Pearl, Granny Grace, and Tuppence the Bag Lady, Alysa is uniquely qualified as “Christian Drama Queen.” Bringing the Light of God’s Word into the dark corners of our everyday realities, Alysa urges every person everywhere to unsubscribe from the Crisis-of-the-Month Club and allow God’s grace and healing to bring wholeness to broken lives. Addressing the needs to find self-esteem, fulfillment, and balance in a topsy-turvy society, ‘Queen’ Alysa reminds her audience that we are called to a higher existence as Sons and Daughters of the King of Kings. With insight and enthusiasm, she compels us to find the Prince or Princess inside each of us and to walk as Children of the Light.
